Historical Costume making : Victorian Era 1880s

In this project I had sewn the undergarments, corset, parasol, hoop bustle , bodice, skirt and train extension.

The corset was adjusted to be fitted through multiple fittings and pattern adjustments. The corset was made out of coutil and supported with the used of steel spiral boning , grommets and busk with the addition to hand sewn bridal lace appliqué. The Parasol was sewn using velveteen in which I had taken an old umbrella and remade the outer cover, and added fringe trimming for detail. The hoop pannier was made from coutil and steel boning that gave the Victorian shaping. The train was made out of 8 yards for black velveteen double lined and added decorative trimming to the edges, with the heavy weight of this attachment the garment had to be secured with the used of metal sliders to keep on place at the waistline.
